Every bursted bubble has a glory!
Each abysmal failure makes a point!
Every glowing path that goes astray,
Shows you how to find a better way.
So every time you stumble never grumble.
Next time you’ll bumble even less!
For up from the ashes,
up from the ashes,
grow the roses of success!

Grow the roses! Grow the roses!
Grow the roses of success!

– “Roses of Success” from the 1968 film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Hi, I’m Chelsea. I’m 29 and I’m from Christchurch, New Zealand. I am wife to a great guy called Joseph, who is a teacher, and mother to our five closely spaced little ones, aged 7 and under.

I love writing, its my outlet to myself to process thoughts when I have no children around! I find I function best when I’m able to have some creative outlet of unleashing words, sometimes all just appearing in my head at once. I have a degree in Media and Communications. Over the last 10 years or so I’ve written columns in various websites, newspapers and magazines, and edited for a few websites, including founding and running Restless Press, an Australasian magazine site (that is currently taking a break).

Grow the Roses is a place for me to fill with all the things I am most passionate about. It is a blog that has grown with me for around 7 years, a place to fill with my phases and the words that fill my head.

The name “Grow the Roses” came from the 1968 musical ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ song with the lyrics “From the ashes of disaster grow the roses of success”.
